Welcome to another Top Five Wednesday!!! This list is filled with all of my favortie creepy, and spooky bookish settings.
Remember the part where Harry and Dumbledore go to find the Horcrux in the lake amidst the inferi? That place was very scary, in the book and movie versions. I am sorry that is one Horcrux that I would just have to leave behind.
The home is pretty freaking spooky. Immortal children with superpowers live there, despite the fact that a bomb was dropped there during WW2. That is just plain spooky. Not to mention the hollowgasts (monsters) that would just love to get in there.
So when poor JR, aka Frankenstein’s monster, is abandoned by his creator he flees to these really spooky, icy, and barren mountains. I feel so bad for him, how scary would it be to have to trudge around frozen wastelands by yourself?
Oh, they literally go to the Underworld. How much more spooky can you get? The dead are everywhere as well as everyone’s favorite lap dog Cerebus. No thanks.
Last but not least we have the Archive where Mac, the protagonist and keeper, has to retrieve the Histories that have escaped (aka the dead). I just could not do that…way too spooky…way too spooky.
And the honorable mention goes to the forbidden forest of Harry Potter. Damn, nature! You scary!
That’s it for my fave spooky settings. I love creepy books, October or not, they are always some of the best!
Forbidden forest in Harry Potter… Oh god… Wouldn’t have even looked at it from far. Great list! 😛
